The life and legend of America`s most famous wild horse - Picaso
Photographers visited Sand Wash Basin, Colorado to capture pictures of the controversial practice by the government to bait-trip wild horses to limit the population growth of the wild horse herd in the area. One coloured Mustang stallion showed himself to be a star of the wild horses in the area capturing the attention of the visiting photographers.
The photographers named him Picasso and when the pictures were published he instantly became an internet sensation with a following of over 15,000 followers on facebook.
As well as being a stunning specimen, Picasso is is actually 30 years old a longevity not often reached by wild horses. The area has a large wild horse population with different herds often clashing over resources, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) carry out contraceptive injections on the breeding mares to try and reduce the number of foals born each year. Picasso himself is thought to have over 20 descendants.
