Tor Brewer
Tor has competed on five European eventing teams including Ponies, Juniors and Young Riders. She completed her first Badminton in 2008 with homebred, Highleadon (see in Library: Badminton Horse Trials 2).
I have been a member of the Ledbury Hunt Pony Club since I was six years old and riding from three years of age. My family are all involved in horses, my mother competed at Badminton and Burghley and I have two sisters, one who is in to National Hunt racing and the other who has also ridden on a British eventing team.
I grew up doing lots of gymkhanas and hunting and generally competing in everything from one day events to showing. I left school wanting to ride and went on to compete on five European teams: Ponies, Juniors and Young Riders winning four team medals (one gold, two silver, one bronze) and placed individually in the top ten in three of the championships. I also won Punchestown Three Day Event in Ireland.
My father farms in Hartpury and that is where I am based with my horses. Highleadon is my main horse at the moment, he is homebred so it makes completing my first Badminton on him even more special! I broke him in and have produced him from the beginning so I am very proud of the achievement. Here in Gloucestershire I have a fantastic team of vets, farriers, and osteopaths that all work hard to help me get the best results.
My ambition is to ride on the senior team, go to the 2012 Olympics and ride at many more Badmintons and Burghleys!! It took me a long time to get to my first Badminton with a lot of blood, sweat and tears along the way but it was worth it and it makes me even more determined to get back there
