Therapy Ponies are Bringing Joy to Care Home Residents
John & Elaine Sangster founded, Therapy Ponies Scotland taking miniature Shetland ponies into care home to help make their day a little brighter, home of 16 adorable mini Shetlands they ensure they are in tip top cuddly condition before visiting the care home.
When they arrive at a care home they get the ponies out the van and they put little boots on them so the horse don`t slip or damage the flooring within the home, the ponies then start their work bringing cheer to the residents, going around the lounge area initially and then having some one on one time with the individual residents. The therapy ponies can make a big difference to the well being of the residents lifting the mood in the home and helping make a connection with those residents who may be suffering from conditions such as alzheimer`s as it allows them to live in the moment and make a true connection.
