The Silesian horse, also known as Koń śląski in Polish or Ślůnski kůń in Silesian, is a breed of warmblood horse originating from the historic region of Silesia, mostly within modern-day Poland. It is considered the heaviest of the Polish warmblood breeds and has been influenced by various breeds such as the Thoroughbred, Oldenburg, East Friesian, and German halfbred.




The Silesian horse has two recognized types: the old type and the new saddle type. The old type was versatile and used for various purposes including sport carriages, while the new saddle type is primarily used for racing.

These horses are known for their athleticism and versatility, making them a rare and fascinating breed. They were originally used by miners and farmers in the Silesia region of Poland.
