The Queens Highland Pony Stud at Balmoral

Her majesty the queen is a keen horse lover and has interests in a number of British rare breeds, this includes her Highland pony stud farm located at Balmoral castle. The stud farm is managed by yard manager Sylvia Ormiston who has run the estates horses for over 10 years. The Balmoral estate covers approximately 50,000 acres and is a favourite retreat for the Queen and her family.

The breeding program at the Balmoral estate is dedicated to the breeding true type highland ponies and has had a number of Highland pony stallions standing at stud.

Balmoral Mandarin - Born in 2009 Balmoral Mandarin is sired by Ulleam of Croila out of the mare Misty Morn Of Turin Hill who is a daughter of Viscount Of Whitefield. Balmoral Mandarin was a succes in the show ring with Libby Grota from Cadlan Valley Highland stud, together the pair won numerous championships including the Reserve Champion in the Royal International Intermediate Young Rider class.
