; The oldest recorded thoroughbred racehorse was the 42-year-old Tango Duke , a chestnut gelding born 1935 in Victoria, Australia owned by Carmen J. Koper of Barongarook, Tanfo Duke died on 25 January 1978.
The oldest living horse in the world currently is 51 year old Shayne, an Irish draught horses living at Remus Horse Sanctuary, Brentford. Shayne may have the look of an old boy, but he is still happy trotting around the paddock. Shayne came to Remus Horse Sanctuary in 2007 and has been enjoying his retirement
