Svend Kold
Svend is one of the most accomplished vets in the world. He specialises in equine orthopaedics at Willesley Equine Clinic, is an `expert witness` in veterinary court cases and senior course vet at Ascot Races.
A consultant at Willesley Equine Clinic in Gloucestershire where I specialise in Equine Orthopaedic Surgery. I also take many hundreds of referral cases from other colleagues every year.
I have twenty seven years’ experience in this field consisting of ten years in academia and orthopaedic research (including a doctorate) and seventeen years in specialist equine practice. I have published extensively and have also received Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons recognition as a Specialist in Equine Surgery (Orthopaedics) since 1993.
I am now in full time clinical work, including a significant amount of surgery. I lecture regularly at congresses both in the UK and Europe and am co-author of "Clinical Radiology of the Horse", which has become a standard textbook for radiology of the horse and is now in preparation for its third edition.
One of the highlights of my veterinary life is being the Senior Veterinary Surgeon at Ascot Racecourse as I love English racing. Other work includes inspecting equine hospitals for the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and preparing legal expert witness reports for both claimants and defendants. This has involved me in attending County and High Court in England, Ireland and Denmark. I am a member of the UK Register of Expert Witnesses and the Expert Witness Institute and a member of the Council for the Registration of Forensic Practitioners.
With all of this going on, I still find time to enjoy my children and their ponies - good job I don`t need much sleep!!
