Shannon Meer
Shannon Meer & Birtley Rainbow Quest, Burford Little Gem, Whitaker Duchess, Mount Pleasant Blackjack, Sandbank Earlybird, Kennilwood Sirocco AND Littlestones Silver Lady! Qualified for: 122cm Show Hunter Pony of the Year, Charlotte Morgan 128cm Children`s Riding Pony, Charlotte Morgan 138cm Children`s Riding Pony and The Brineton M&M First Ridden Pony of the Year
I have been a very lucky girl this year as I have been offered lots of rides on beautiful ponies that range from 11.3hh to 13.2hh . The first pony I qualified this year was Birtley Rainbow Quest at the South of England show, he is a 12hh hunter pony but only a baby and this will be his first time at HOYS.
The second pony I qualified was Littlestones Silver Lady, she is a M&M First Ridden and is very cute! The third pony i qualified was Kennilwood Sirocco, he is a 4 year old, 13.2hh show pony and I`ll let you in to a little secret… he`s my favourite!
The fourth pony was Whitaker Duchess, she is a 12.2hh show pony, she`s also only 4 years old. Just when I thought that was all mine qualified, I was asked to ride some more! I went to Bakewell Show where I qualified another 12.2hh called Mount Pleasant Blackjack, this was on the Thursday. Then on the Saturday, off we went to Mid Herts and I rode a novice 12hh called Burford Little Gem. The plan was just to let her have a look around but she was such a good girl we decided to put her in the ring and guess what!! we qualified for HOYS!
Just as we was about to leave the show, I was asked if I would stand in and ride another 12.2hh for friends of ours as their jockey could not make it. When I was pulled in to the top spot on Sandbank Earlybird, this meant I had qualified seven ponies for HOYS!
I am very proud of myself as I am only 11 years of age and this has been a massive achievement for me. I have learned a lot this year thanks to Julie, before April, I had never spent a night away from home without my mom and dad, so this year I have grown up a lot. I have had great fun along the way and every HOYS ticket I have won has been amazing and now I am very excited waiting for HOYS to be here.
