Pawel Spisak
Most successful Polish eventing-ista in recent years. As one of the few Poles reached the world level, in a difficult and prestigious discipline of riding, the versatile Eventing Competition. Recognized for professionalism, respected in the international arena.
Interview with Paul Spisakiem
Why are growing Eventing? This is the hardest and most dangerous discipline seems to be riding.
It is this discipline, I contracted my first trainer, Eve Piechocka. Always said that the true equestrian, eventing it is because it requires effort and humility. I started in the ear, near Koszalin, in a very modest by today`s standards, terms. I remember how we did the first obstacle, the tires, poles, barrels, etc., in a meadow near the woods, so the first KROS. Although it paid off. Since the first competitions I knew that if I ride, I want to go eventing. No doubt this is a very difficult discipline that requires professional preparation and the horse and rider. There is no room for improvisation. It could be dangerous, only if something is trying to make cuts. Driving Eventing everything you need to develop a solid. So from the very beginning of the adventure of Eventing is important to choose a suitable place for training, selecting the right coach who not only teach driving techniques but wpoi respect for the horse, as an equal partner.
How old were you when you started training? When I came the first successes?
The first time I got on a horse when I was 10 years old, was in the stables at Ewa Piechocki. At age 12, first took off in the competition and immediately there were competitions in eventing, Koszalin Youth Olympics, I was lucky, the first contest, the first podium finish. I remember that helmet on KROS would not fall from the head had to be stuffed with newspapers, it was smaller. Hope competed on the mare, it was my first horse, who is with us today. Despite old age, it`s a great horse to learn. Many players of our club was started at the school. Just two years after the first competition, won his first bronze medal in the Junior Polish Junior Championships. Over the years regularly won medals in the MP Junior and Young Riders. Hope for serious racing and international success came, however, only the purchase Weriusza.
Many of your colleagues, with whom startowales, as a junior, young rider eventing given up, grow, today such as jumping, why you are loyal to eventing?
Eventing competitions and especially KROS, is a huge challenge, give us such as adrenaline, which can not be none, other equestrian discipline. You have to feel ... concentration, when I hear the countdown to start boxing ... but also requires enormous work and commitments to reach the international level are required for long-term plans, and great care for the horses, precise workout. Often, unfortunately, we find a situation where too soon we reach a higher level of what works to the detriment of the horse and crossed the chances of real success and emotions that give us compete in major international competitions. Many excellent, Polish horses, prematurely ended his career. Because short-term effects are important. Remember that eventing is three days of competition, the dressage and exhausting krosie, the horse with ease and in good shape should be present even on the course. I think we should learn from foreign players who can successfully compete on horses teenage hugely successful. Looking at them, the excellent condition of their horses, refutes any allegations that it is a dangerous sport, it is simply a discipline for those responsible.
Currently, you train in one of the best European WKKWistów, in Andreas Dibowskiego. Does any coach in Poland is not good enough for you?
In my career I had the pleasure and opportunity to work with many great coaches such as Boguslaw Jarecki, Christopher Rafalak, Miroslaw Slusarczyk, Janusz Katarzyna Milczarek and Bobik. Each of them owe much, each of them helped me improve my skills. It`s time to move forward. Unfortunately the glorious times of Polish horse riding and training of Polish thought this story so far. Eventing is a discipline that is growing incredibly dynamic. I was looking for someone who has extensive experience as a trainer and also actively involved in the changes that occur in recent years in the eventing world. That person turned out to Andreas Dibowski. One of the best riders in the world (with the team Olympic champion Germany, in Beijing) and a great coach. In addition to the art of riding I can learn from the professional conduct of eventing center, preparing the young and more experienced horses in the competition starts, planning and approach to horses and how to transmit knowledge to others. It`s more than acquisition of skills, a kind of sport philosophy, reliability and precision. Andreas is an extremely accurate, which draws attention to even the smallest details. What matters is the quality and style of exercise and not just the end result. This form of exercise causes a systematic increase in my ability and repeatability, which is very important.
Your career is associated with one horse, Weriuszem if you are a "rider, one horse"?
Before there was Wierusz, as a junior and young rider won medals at several horses, it helped me to grow extensively, I learned a lot from the horse`s. This enables it to fit almost any horse. But to be successful, the horse and rider must be a pair. As the two halves, for better or for worse. I landed on this, riding the second half. It is Weriusz, who had been a horse of my life. I go to him, since he was four years so we taught each other everything, both the normal stuff as well as those less correct. We know through and through, and almost every time we are able to provide for themselves. It may sound lofty, but we sense their moods. In this way I can count on him in difficult situations during which not a little patch. Weriusz often improves my mistakes and I am able to predict its moments of distraction. It`s a horse with a big heart, always gives his all and often even more. During the Olympic final passage, in Hong Kong, the stadium was the tens of thousands of spectators, cameras, lights, but really it was just me and him, to rely on each other. Both gave their all. Two clean, error-free travel is our great success.
Despite a slight increase and reduced physical is outstanding and the best horse I ever met in his sport the way. The second horse, which I trained from the start is Del Piero. The horse, which significantly contributed to my boot at the Olympics in Beijing and won the gold medal in the Senior Championship. Unfortunately the injury, which he contracted while in the paddock shattered the chances of our continued success is assured in our lifelong pension.
Wierusz, is now 17 years old, a little Polish horses, in this age sees the hippodromes. He is still in great shape. How does this happen?
The secret to great form Weriusza lies in an appropriate, balanced and rational training and professional planning starts. What is also credited with Andreas Dibowskim training. Do not start on the competition Weriuszu, if I feel that it is not properly prepared. I try not to do anything more than his ability, at any given time, even if it meant losing the coin, or item. Nothing at the expense of his health. You`ll give up-coming event, when I felt that it was not the time. Poor preparation negates the chances of a good result and at the same time, opens the way to faster completion of the career of the horse. The injury in this sport is not difficult, so called. Abbreviations action sooner or later lead to failure. The best example, let it be the fact that for many years we have problems in completing the team of international racing in the World Championships or Europe, not to mention the Olympics.
What are your plans for the Weriuszem?
Weriusz will compete as long as I feel that training and competitions make him happy and not too tiring for him. I realize that the end of his career may be coming soon, but as long as we do nothing is beyond his strength, I will try to improve our results. I would love to have successfully launched our third Olympic Games in London. Start and success in these competitions would be a beautiful culmination of its rich and long career. This is a horse that deserves a medal at a major international event.
What about your career when you retire Wierusz?
Now, thanks to cooperation with Magdalena Donimirska and Janow Podlaski, with Mr. Dr. Marek Trela, I have two horses ready to compete at the level of three stars. Wag is an experienced horse, a large-capacity, and as difficult as if you just manage to tame his temperament is a big chance for good results in major events. This is a horse, with whom qualified for this year`s European Championships in Luhmuhlen (2011), which is my main goal of the season.
Barite from Janow Podlaski, a horse with great potential but is unpredictable. This is a stallion and it`s very rare in the discipline of eventing, causes frequent distraction. In addition to these horses I have here a few younger, beginning starts at the national level. Most young horses in my stable is a Stud Farm breeding. Through this cooperation, I have the ability to check a large number of talented Polish horses. Thus promote the Polish culture, in the international arena.
You`re lucky, you train on their own, beautiful, modern facility, whose merit it?
Thanks to the involvement of parents, I have excellent conditions to develop a passion and career. 11 years ago parents invested a large part of the acquis of life in the old devastated, popegerowskie farm near Koszalin. Huge as per their financial outlays opportunities and lots of hard work meant that we can enjoy the beautifully restored sports leisure facility, from the nineteenth century mansions, historic park, stables, and beautiful squares treningowymi areas to practice horsemanship and horseback riding.
Is your family, daughter, wife, share your passion, or committed to your career?
With his wife Iza we met with the horses so, and now we work together. It helps me not only in relation to careers, entertainment, sport, supports the development of the whole center, takes care of design, design. Keeping the center is also our source of income. Iza is a teacher, a qualified instructor, leads min. hippotherapy classes. Daughter, Victoria loves horses, great rides, for the time being, however, is not interested in equestrian sport. In the summer willingly going on a ride, can take care of your pony and his beautiful hair. Sometimes they both go with me to events, not just cheer. From morning to evening, do not leave the horses, I have the cleanest and most well-groomed horses, all contenders. Victoria even has his own, special, pink brush set for Wierusz. My colleagues laugh that my best loose gun, the wife and daughter. Family Team.
Your stable, the club is not only the results of Paul Spisak. The colors of your medals and high deposits earn your players, you`re a good coach?
In addition to competing in the competition also serves as an instructor in our department. For me it is also a big challenge, which starts in the competition. It gives me enormous satisfaction, the knowledge that they earn for the border, I can share with others and are the results. Despite the relatively short experience as an instructor, I can boast of quite good results my students that are still growing. These include success of Joanna arrived - Polish Championships bronze medalists and contestants Young Riders European Championships, Oli Malicka appointed to the national team of young riders in 2010 and winner of 2 place in the FEI ranking for the year 2010 in the category of young riders. Recently, Sarah Snioch, a young ambitious Amazon, appointed, ponies for the national team in 2011. In addition to the athletes under my care a few young and talented players compete in competitions start jumping and eventing and niesportowców group wishing to improve their skills. Can also enjoy the fact that more and more people from all over the country come to Skibna cycles, for several days of consultations with me, wanting to take advantage of my experience.
