Mulberry Horseboxes - West Yorkshire, UK
Mulberry Horseboxes is a small family run business. We have catered for the equestrian community since 1999. Being horse owners ourselves, we believe we have developed a durable, practical, high quality product.
Both coach built and conversions are manufactured in our workshop by qualified tradesmen using the best materials available.
Lutons and integrals are built to retain the all important tilt cab facility - you wouldn`t weld down the bonnet on your car so why do it to your horsebox!
Horse areas are light, well ventilated, practical and durable.
The living area is hand crafted and can be designed to suit individuals requirements and budget.
All gas work is fully checked and certificated by an independent engineer.
Please feel free to look at our completed horseboxes, but if you are looking for something specific, please view our 7.5 Ton Gallery or 3.5 Ton Gallery.
A variety of the custom horse boxes we have built.
Here you will find examples of the work we have undertaken. Please feel free to browse through our gallery. By clicking on each image, another window will open with a much larger picture to show you further details.
Construction - Coach built vehicles are constructed from 17mm glasonite panels, with thicker high gloss GRP on the outer wall to give a strong smoother finish. Galvanised steel cross members are used with a choice of aluminium or wood flooring in the horse area. A choice of rubber mats or granulistic for floor covering.
To keep weight to a minimum 2mm GRP is used for the horse area ceiling, dividing wall covering and 3mm for outer ramp face. The skirts are constructed from fibreglass, with a wide step constructed from light weight steel.
The ramp is probably the most important part of construction. It needs to be strong with good quality materials to meet the demands put upon it, but still remains easy to lift. Under slung springs are used and all steel work is prepared and treated to prevent corrosion. Conversions - if you are keeping the box on your chassis the back end is cut off and all inner and outer walls sanded to enable good adhesion of the new aluminium panels. All other aspects of construction are the same standard as our coach built vehicles.
Horse Area - The horse area is light, well ventilated, practical and durable. Fully insulated ceiling and dividing wall ensures a comfortable environment for the horse. Galvanised telescopic partitions with white infill boards and kick rubber to bottom. Two double roof lights, ramp spotlight and rug rack. Windows with galvanised protective bars. Stock board or rubber to bottom half of horse area. Flooring can be granulistic rubber or rubber matting. White GRP ramp wing doors.
Living Area - Whether you decide on a basic day living or a full luxury living attention to detail and quality is applied to the same standard. The customer has the choice of upholstery, wall and unit material. All units are hand made to suit the customers requirements. Final electrical connection of the 240v hook up and charging system is carried out by a specialist HGV Auto Electrical Company. Safety is paramount in our work.
Outside - Flush fitting easy lift ramp, box re-skinned in aluminium sheets (conversion only). Rear skirt locker. Gas and battery access doors, saddle locker incorporated into kitchen unit or can be put in horse area at an extra cost. Luton with full tilt facility. Metallic paint as standard, sign writing and stainless steel wheel trims. Flush fitting marker lights.
