Michelle Mueller
Michelle Mueller wanted a horse for as long as she can remember. She rode her first horse at 5 years old and owned her first horse at 7 ...a 16 hh 1 1/2 year old stud colt named Rusty.
In the early years, she competed on many different horses in English classes and Western games ... loving anything with speed. Her first show was the Port Perry Fair, and she continued to compete in many local fairs, jumpers, hunter, dressage and fox hunting.
Michele`s mother, Lee, always emphasized good basics and at the age of 12 years old Michele began dressage lessons. She started dressage competition in 1989 and excelled in the dressage ring first on Travieso (Rambo) and later on Been Jazzin (Taz), both Trak/TB cross. She has also successfully competed in the Arabian dressage circuit on client`s horses. She continues her dressage training today with Karin Davis.
Michele is also a certified instructor through the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association. Cedar Valley Stables was home to the Durham Therapeutic Riding Association (DTRA) for 9 years. Michele is also a certified Level 2 Coach with Equine Canada.
Michelle Mueller always loved the sport of eventing but had to wait until she found a mount with the heart for x-country, which she discovered in Travieso in 1996, when he started his jumping career late in life at 10 years old. His training continued that summer and Michele & Travieso competed at their first event at Dreamcrest in 1996.
An injury ended Travieso`s eventing career at the Preliminary level, but he continued to teach aspiring dressage and event students at Cedar Valley Stables until his death in 2010.
Her next eventing mount was Cheevos Regale (Gene), a 15`3" Hol/Han cross, who took Michele to the 2 star level of competition. Gene was a natural jumper who would jump from paddock to paddock for fun and to annoy Bill and Michele. Gene continues his successful career in the jumper ring in Michigan, U.S.A.
Amistad, 3/4 TB 1/4 Belgian cross, is Michele`s present mount and is maturing into a brave and reliable horse. Since their partnership began in 2005, he continues to rise to all new challenges. He earns consistent dressage scores, he loves jumping, and he always gives 100% on the x-country course. This has been with the help of Ian Roberts and Robin Walker.
A huge thank you goes out to Dr. Jamie Carter of Southern Equine Services in Aiken, SC and also to Maggie Turner of McKee Pownell Equine Services for their exceptional care of Amistad.
