An Early Career of Firsts - In 1996, at age fourteen, she became the youngest competitor to win the U.S. Show Jumping Junior/Amateur Championship; she won it again at age fifteen on the same horse. She holds the record as the youngest woman to capture two consecutive U.S. Junior Amateur National Championships. During these junior years, (those prior to a rider`s eighteenth birthday) in addition to riding the horses owned by her family`s Raylyn Farms, Inc., Marilyn catch rode for many other professionals in the industry, including: Margie Goldstein-Engle, Nona Garson, Anne Kursinski, Mark Leone, Peter Leone, Missy Clark, Lainey Wimberly, and Brian Joyce. In addition to being trained by her mother Lynne, Marilyn was also trained by Missy Clark (North Run, Inc.) in the equitation divisions, and frequently by George Morris at the shows. By eighteen, Marilyn won the United States Equestrian Team`s Talent Derby a record third time, and the first female to win this prestigious event more than once. That year, Marilyn was chosen to be a member of the 2000 US Show Jumping squad for the first time (the youngest rider to represent the US Equestrian Team on a tour of Europe), heading to San Sebastian and Gijon in Spain, as well as Dublin, Ireland, for the summer tour. It was in Dublin where she capped off the tour as the Leading International Rider at the Kerrygold Horse Show; once again the youngest rider ever to do so. In 2010, Marilyn took up the Eventing sport, and began competing on an International level in 2011. In September of 2011, Marilyn won her first Advanced Horse Trials, followed two weeks later by a win in her first CIC*** International Horse Trials, after competing in the sport for only 11 months.
Education - Though the sports of Show Jumping and Eventing are truly sports with no off season, Marilyn`s parents Ray and Lynne made every effort to ensure that she and sister Ashlyn were involved in activities other than horse sports. More importantly, it was understood that academics were to be a priority; one ahead of not only riding, but also ahead of her other pursuits that included snowboarding, scuba diving, flying (she is a certified single engine pilot), photography and the violin. Marilyn attended the St. James School in Hagerstown, Maryland, and St. John’s at Prospect Hall in Frederick, Maryland, for her high school education and graduated in 1999. Marilyn went on to Wake Forest University, where she majored in Rhetorical Communication and Eastern Religion/Philosophy. Even though she decided to continue riding while at Wake Forest, Marilyn joined the Kappa Delta Sorority, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the 2003 class and was inducted into the Golden Key Club and Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Fraternity.
Getting Down to Business - Following her graduation from Wake Forest, Marilyn returned to the Show Jumping circuit full time, and has been a continued presence on the International field at competition in Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, and also in Mexico on the 2004 Olympic Trial tour. Marilyn also began buying and selling horses on the local, national, and International markets alongside Lynne. However, Marilyn found another passion in teaching, and began to accept students both for lessons while at Raylyn and also as additions to the Raylyn Team to attend horse shows and compete with her on circuit. Since 2003, Marilyn’s students have won equitation finals, garnered numerous national championships in divisions ranging from Pony Hunters to Junior Jumpers, and often go on to seek out professional status in the industry themselves. “Team Raylyn,” now draws a student base spanning from Maryland to Chicago, Los Angeles to Florida. In addition, Marilyn holds clinics both at Raylyn and at other facilities upon request. Even with its growing numbers, one of the ongoing hallmarks of Raylyn is its ability to maintain a warm, individualized and optimistic atmosphere amid the simultaneous buzz of meticulous training, intense competition, and the constant search for and selection of appropriate equine partners for Team Raylyn.
In September of 2008 at Raylyn, Marilyn and Benjamin Meredith were married. Benjamin, a member of the Australian Equestrian Federation and originally from Sydney, Australia, came to the US in 2004 and has been co-managing Raylyn’s riding, training and sales duties since 2006. Together, Marilyn and Ben now travel nearly eighty percent of the year, often with many students, tens of horses, multiple trailers, and often their two cats and dogs if it’s going to be an especially long stay...

Beginning - Marilyn got her first pony as an unborn - it was a baby shower gift to her mother from a family friend. Under her parents watchful eye, Marilyn started competing at age seven on her second pony, Snowy Day, a gift from noted pony trainer Pam Baker.
