Finding a halter trainer.
There is a possibility that we’re not going to be able to show our own horses this year due to work schedules and such…thus I was thinking of sending my 1.5 year old colt to a trainer for halter training/conditioning/showing.
This question comes in parts.
a.) What would you look for in perspective trainers?
b.) What kind of regime would you expect for a colt of that age in terms of conditioning?
c.) Should trainers be up front with you in taking a horse and what your expectations should be?
Personally, I would like my horse to AT LEAST qualify for the Amateur to Handle Stallion class and the SP Specialty 2 and Under class at Nationals.
Thoughts? Feelings? I can email pics of my colt to folks if you are interested in seeing him.
