Kerry Watts
Kerry Watts - Showjumping Rider
Training at Gloucester Downs is available for the horse or pony, young stock or mature athlete.
From line training and ground driving to backing and full athletic development, we have a program for you. This is not a short term process if it is to be done thoroughly and done well.
Although backing a horse is a relatively simple process, like any athletic endeavour for any of us, the learning of more than just the basics is an evolutionary process and develops at different rates for different athletes. To be a pro golfer takes decades, to get into the Minor leagues in hockey ...takes more than a year of skating...
So it is not just the Human athlete, rider, that progresses slowly and steadily, it is the horse that requires time to build muscle, understanding, balance, strength and the "vocabulary" necessary to jump in the highly technical atmosphere of the bigger showjumping events.
Training takes time but if it is done properly the result should be a trustworthy partner that will not only obey, but will help to make the right decisions when the going is tougher.

Consistency and Partnership are the keys we try to reinforce and encourage in Gloucester Downs training.
