Rehabilitation of athletic injuries is a fact of life for both riders and horses. Any athlete that competes at a committed level in any sport will be subject to layoffs and minor or major injuries. We try to minimize the long term effects of injuries by early recognition and rehabilitation.
The farm has set up the paddocks, the fields, the dutch Mill and many of the training areas to take advantage of hills and slightly sloped terrain while trying to eliminate boggy, deep footing and provide a secure understructure to the training and turnout areas.
Getting fit is a science and returning to fitness after an injury has many controllable components even for our equine partners. The involvement of the owners and students in the rehabilitation of injured animals is another important experience in the structure of the learning environment at Gloucester Downs.
We work with a variety of traditional and complementary modalities and have a close working relationship with a complete selection of professionals

Heys Lane Farm
The ideal property for the equestrian family, or even an equestrian business thanks to the superb facilities it offers.
The property has been renovated and extensively improved over the previous three years by its current owners to provide some of the best equestrian facilities in the area.
Ideally located in the small market town of Great Harwood on the edge of the beautiful Ribble Valley, the property is easily accessed from the M65 corridor.
Set in its own grounds, without boardering neighbours, you feel as though you could be in the middle of the countryside, yet within 5 minutes, is the quaint town centre and major supermarkets.
The surrounding countryside provides excellent off road hacking and walking.
Dating back to the 1800`s, the property retains much of the charm and character of the thick stone walls, solid construction original beams, and multi fuel stoves yet incorporates all the modern facilities for the family of today.
Additionally, Holly was also very active in the local pony clubs, and in the summer of 1991 she received both her HA and A rating all after having graduated Minnetonka High School. Throughout her high school and college years Holly was fortunate to ride a multitude of horses and teach lessons.
After graduating from St. Olaf Hudspeth spent much of her time teaching and training young horses, which was made possible by her starting her own barn, Vector Run Farm, in Orono, MN.
It was a budding partnership with a promising young horse named Waj Mirage that prompted Holly to move east and relocate to Ocala, Fl. In Ocala, she spent a year training with Ralph Hill, and was also fortunate to take a few lessons with the legendary Bruce Davidson. In 1998 this move proved to be successful as Holly and Waj finished 9th at the Radnor Hunt Three Day Event, and went on in 1999 to finish 18th in the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event CCI3*.
Hudspeth then moved to Middleburg, Va, and spent three and a half years riding with Karen and David O`Connor. There she picked up additional rides such as the Lester Piggott and Arctic Heart, as well as other horses of all levels. During her time in Virginia, Holly gained valuable experience galloping race horses, competing at the upper levels and teaching.
2003 would prove to be a break out year for Hudspeth. In the spring of that year Holly and Lester Piggot would finish sixteenth in a strong field at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event in the CCI 4*. Lester Piggot and Holly would go onto represent the United States at the 2003 Pan American Games held at Fair Hill, where they would finish ninth.
In 2004, Hudspeth and Damien were eighth in the CCI 4* at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. This performance short listed the pair for the Athens Olympics in 2004.
In recent years, Holly has teamed up with the Thoroughbred gelding Last Monarch, a horse owned by herself and her husband Chuck Hudspeth. In the spring of 2009, they were ninth in the CIC3* at the Fork Horse Trials. They also collected a third place finish in the advanced division at Five Points Horse Trials in September. Later that fall, Holly and Last Monarch were fifteenth in the CCI 3* at a rain soaked Fair Hill.
In 2010, the pair has picked up right were they left off the previous season. They were fourth in the advanced at the Fork, three weeks before contesting Last Monarch’s first CCI 4* at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event Presented by Bridgestone. Their seventeenth place finish at the event helped them secure a place on the Short List for the 2010 Land Rover US Eventing Team to represent the United States at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.
Holly is the resident event trainer at Equiventure Farm in Rougemont, NC. Holly and her husband, Chuck Hudspeth, live in Raleigh, NC.
