Q. I`m organising a charity horse show next summer. Do you have any suggestions where I could hire sets of jumps? I contacted the BSJA as they hire them out for £400, which I thought wasnt too bad, but then they also wanted £700 to deliver them. Any suggestions? It is very good that you aiming to raise money for charity and good luck with your show!

It is very good that you aiming to raise money for charity and good luck with your show! You could try to hire jumps from a local riding centre, but they may not be such good ones as from the BSJA.

As the greatest cost quoted was for delivery of the jumps, could you not arrange to collect and return them yourself? A horsebox should be up to the job!

If there is another show taking place in your area the weekend before or after your intended show, maybe you could come to some sort of arrangement to share the expense of jump hire and transport.

It may be that by the time you have costed it all out, you may not have enough entries to cover the cost of the jumps! But there are lots of classes you can run that do not need jumps too!
