Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain
Founded in 1886 as the H.I.S
(H.I.S) - Hunter Improvement Society
Formerly known as the National Light Horse Breeding Society
Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain is a professional Society run by a Council elected annually by its members, who are able to put forward their ideas about what they want from the Society.
The Society is an A-Member of the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses and is committed to supporting the industry by way of incentives for breeders, education, information and high standard grading schemes and shows. As a Registered Charity, any money it makes is put back into helping to achieve these aims.
Britain has been producing top class sport horses for many years and now the Society is able to emphasise the outstanding national and international influence that our stallions have had. This will allow successful British bred competition horses to gain the international recognition they deserve and enable Great Britain to take its rightful place in the world rankings.
The Society is also the governing body for all in-hand and ridden hunter classes, which are held at major shows throughout the country.
Horses entering these classes have to be registered with SHB(GB). All show results from youngstock classes to Ridden Qualifying classes are collated and recorded and performance printouts are available, free of charge, from the Society.
All our Stallions at Tynybryn are registered with the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain.
