Galoubet A
Galoubet A was an exceptional stallion, his appearances at tournaments was spectacular. Not just because of his excellent jumping, but especially because of his swing after the jump. He was one of the first stallions in international sport and also one of the first in artificial insemination.
Galoubet A had a lot of strength and respect for the bars. At the age of 5 he became French master of show jumping, where he was acquired by Jean François Pellegrin from Marseille on the advice of Gilles Bertran de Balanda . Balanda was then his constant rider, who won his first Grand Prix at the age of 6 and became the French jumping champion at the age of 7 and 9.The two were victorious in many Grand Prix and at the age of 10, Galoubet A became World Team Champion in Dublin.
The demand from the breeders was very high, although the stud fee was almost 10 times higher than usual at the time. Artificial insemination was just coming, but was still banned in France. This disappointed the owner, Mr. Pellegrin, that he decided to accept an American offer. Galoubet A went to the United States while remaining a co-owner. Then when his offspring turned out to be such outstanding jumping horses and the sperm from Galoubet A was not suitable for frozen yeast at that time, his fresh semen was flown overnight by plane from the USA to France several times a week.It was a great success and the Sydikat Galoubet was founded. It was then available in France for 15 years until 1999 when it was 27, thanks to its exceptional longevity and the excellent care of co-owner Meg Douglas-Hamilton. He died in the United States at the age of 34. It will always remain a monument to the international equestrian sport.
