Nineteen Year Old Frankie Chesler tops Stellar Field in 50,000 JAGUAR Grand Prix

Nineteen year old Frankie Chesler of Orangeville, Ontario and her super horse Sylver II topped a field of 27 riders to take home the lion`s share of The $50,000 Jaguar Grand Prix in Sunday`s main event during The Collingwood Festival, week one of the Collingwood Horse Shows.

Under perfect horse show conditions, sunny skies and cool temperatures, a record crowd watched as 27 of North America`s top riders and horses tackled the course set by Guilherme Jorge of Brazil. The Grand Prix ring and the entire show property had been plagued by wet conditions on and off during the five day horse show but were in great shape for the event as ring crews and ground staff toiled to keep the grounds up to scratch.

Chesler took three horses into the ‘big ring` and she was the first to post a clear in round one of the competition. Ten riders came back for the jump off and Chesler again was first into the ring where she set the time to beat of 36.230. Young Lauren Hayes and her power house of a horse Avalanche, who was third in this event last year, was also clean in a time of 39.559; not quite close enough to catch Chesler`s time. American Megan Johnston was also clean with Elfee in 37.369 as was Collingwood Horse Show co-chair Jay Hayes who rode And The Jets and stopped the timers at 37.018. Hayes and his Olympic horse Diva won the event last year. Rounding out the field with the advantage of knowing the time to beat was Ian Millar, " aka" Captain Canada" who had the time for the big win but had one knockdown.

This was the last event in the Jaguar Triple Crown Series and Amy Millar, daughter of Ian and Lynn Millar was all smiles as she did a victory ‘gallop` around the Grand Prix ring in the Jaguar S type that she gets the use of for one year. The Jaguar Triple Crown Series was new this year and consisted of three events, the first took place at Bromont L`international in June and the second was held at The Capital Classic near Ottawa in July.

The event was filmed by CTV Sportsnet and it will be telecast on September 16 across Canada.
