Diana Crump The 1st US Woman Jockey To Ride Against Men
Born the 18th May 1948 in Connecticut, Diane Crump was a female American jockey to compete on a level footing as men, she came across many obstacles and for her first race required a police escort through the crowds at the Hialeah Park Race Track. Diane would continue to race and become the first female jockey in the Kentucky Derby. Now retired from the race track she now runs a successful horse sales business.
