Carriage Driving

Chris Ainscough

Chris Ainscough has turned out to be a very talented carriage driver, having been around the sport his whole life. As a boy he would frequently be off to tournaments to watch his Grandfather compete which gave him the bug, that and the fact they kept their driving horse at their house!

Come the age of twelve he started success at club level, and on his Grandfather`s horse Bramble he achieved sixth at National Championships at just age fourteen. In 2005 he won the Junior Nationals aboard Megan, who was one of John Garlics horses, as well as once again finishing sixth place at National Championships using a horse he had produced himself.

Chris quickly advanced from Club to Advanced National Level, driving a horse called Pucklechurch Alana`s Pride, who he managed to use through Amanda Saville, a lady Chris says he owes much of his later success to. It was the temperament of Alana and the training of Amanda that Chris claims makes him able to drive Marathon and often makes him the quickest combination of Marathon phases. Sadly Amanda Saville has now passed.

A few years later, driving Max, Chris won the 2013 Indoor Open Pony National Championship, before becoming the Supreme Champion in 2014, again driving Max. At the Pony World Championships 2015 Chris was a reserve for the British team, also entering his first international event, finishing fifth at Saumur in France.
