Catango Z
In Catango Z Zangersheide Stud offers a stallion with a fantastic pedigree. His background includes many celebrities, such as Cantus, Heureka Z, Capitol I, Calypso I, Caletto II, Almé Z and Ladykiller xx. His sire is the prematurely deceased Cantus, who nevertheless left many top-class jumpers behind, including Calvaro V from Willi Melliger, who always finished between the best four in the last four championships. Also the female line of Catango Z, lineage 7126 in Holstein, has produced many great names: Fra Diavolo, Acord I and II, Burggraaf, Freemann and others. Catango Z`s dam Zita is a daughter of the Heureka Z son Ahorn Z, bred at Zangersheide at the time.
Zita is sister to the stallions Acobat I and II {Athlet Z}. They all come from Capitol I daughter Tschita, who is a daughter of Oruna (Calypso I} a mare that caused sensation in the International jumping sport under the name of Gräfin. Gräfin is a full sister to the stallion Chicago and the mare Ribecka. Latter is dam of the stallions Acord I and II (Ahorn Z}.
As a 5-yr-old Catango Z was a striking jumper under Jan Verellen for the Tops stables and was licensed and bought by Studbook Zangersheide the same year. After a long rest, during which he recovered from an injury, Catango Z is presently jumping 1.40m courses again. In 1998 Jos Lansink has started him several times in the light International circuit, such as at Arnhem, Hickstead, Valkenswaard and Monterrey.
