Anna Edwards

British showjumper Anna Edwards is a rising star. Since her teens, she has competed internationally, building up an impressive record of first place and leaderboard rankings while representing Great Britain at some of the world`s most prestigious equestrian events.

2010 saw her coming of age, winning the coveted Queen Elizabeth II Cup at the Royal International Horse Show and being part of the team that took the Nations Cup in Linz for Great Britain.

Anna Edwards is one of the top professional showjumpers in the UK with many regional and international awards to her name. Over the years she has been trained by some of the sport`s most notable figures, including Tim Stockdale and Richard Davison.

At present she is training with world-renowned show jumping champions Laura Kraut and Nick Skelton, as well as Commandant John Ledingham through the Equine Pathway.

Based in Clevedon, North Somerset, she grew up amid rural countryside perfect for horses and riding and quickly developed a passion for all things equine.

Anna`s mother, though not from a horsey background herself, had always loved horses and introduced riding to the family with a pony for Anna’s two older sisters. Two years later, when Anna turned six, she had her own pony as well.

Early on she displayed competitive spirit outside of the saddled – representing the county at both cross-country running and hockey during her teens – but riding always remained her real passion.

She began competing at a high level while still at school, representing England in showjumping as well as eventing and winning the European Pony Viewing Trials in the under-14 category.

Later Anna was selected for the European Great Britain under-18 team, coming fifth and first, respectively, in the Young Riders of Great Britain Championships and the Overseas Challenge at the NEC in Birmingham.

Her professional career has seen her establish a reputation as a fine rider and sportswoman. Highlights for 2010 include winning the Queen Elizabeth II Cup at the Royal International Horse Show and the Nations Cup Team in Linz, as well as finishing forth in the Grand Prix in Lamprechtshausen, and fifth in the Grand Prix in Arezzo.

In 2009 Anna came first in the National 7 & 8 Year Old Championship at the BSJA Scope Festival, won the Great Yorkshire, and came second in the Pembrokeshire regional competitions.
