Alexander Peternell
Alexander Peternell is an event rider from South Affirca, Alexander peternell spent time training and riding at Stal Schockermohle and now runs her own competition yard in the UK, below you can watch Alexander Peternell in action carrying out a dressage tesst.
It was during my training sessions that my brother discovered a horse racing yard very near to the studio. One thing led to another (as happens with boys) and we ended up with a Thoroughbred mare, who was a perfect first horse. We were hooked! I tried to combine dancing and horses but as they both take up more hours than there are in a day it proved impossible to do both to the standard I wanted. During that time I had success in Juniors producing a few ponies to JA. My favourite, "Lady Jade", was actually a Soweto rescue case who ended up competing at the FEI Championships in South Africa.
I travelled to Germany as soon as I finished school to work and train at Stal Schockermohle. Wow, what a culture shock! Over 200 competition horses, a small army of grooms and riders, vets and farriers all on site. I worked hard and after work begged for lessons and rides. I was thrown into the deep end and came out stronger!
I now run a competition livery yard in the UK with my wife who is a dressage rider and trainer, which is a real help keeping on top of my dressage. I competed in my first horse trials with a failed dressage mare and we won! Nothing like a little success to make you determined. Since then I have ridden and produced a fair few horses, some of which have been very good, but we are running a business which means we have to sell horses too, especially the good ones. I was the first ever South African rider to compete at Burghley (in 2009) and I was thrilled to finish 38th at my first Badminton in 2010 on Tiger`s Eye.
I am lucky to say that I now have some fantastic owners who help and support me. I have a string of successful horses, one of whom I have been selected with for the South African Team, and if the gods are on our side we might just be able to compete in the World Equestrian Games!

PROTECT YOUR HORSE
Whether youre looking to protect your financial investment, or to make sure your horse receives the best care in the event he becomes ill or injured, insurance is one of the most cost effective ways to achieve both. Click on the above links for more information on coverages for your horse.
Stallion AS&D
This coverage will reimburse you for 100% of your proven stallion`s insured value in the event he can no longer settle mares in foal due to an accident, sickness, or disease. A breeding history will be required--coverage is not available for unproven stallions.
Coverage is available for horses between 3-14 years of age.
Broadstone Insurance is the Authority on Equestrian Coverages. We know horses, and horse insurance. It`s our goal to provide you with insurance to protect all of your equestrian investmentsyour horse, business, or farm. We work with only A rated companies and can find you the most comprehensive and affordable solutions to your insurance needs.
Education is our top priority. You need to understand what`s available in order to make the best decision, so give us a call or drop us an email and we`ll be happy to get you started.

Full Mortality Insurance
The equine full mortality policy is basically life insurance for your horse. It provides coverage in the event the insured horse dies from accident, injury, illness or disease, and also includes coverage for humane destruction (the horse is put down for humane reasons), as well as theft. The policy will automatically cover the horse while it is in the continental United States and Canada. Coverage can extend to other countries as well, with prior notice and additional premium paid.
Coverage is available for healthy horses between the ages of 24 hours and 18 years.
Some companies that we work with also include Emergency Colic Surgery coverage as part of the mortality policy, at no cost. The limit is 50% of the value of the horse, with a maximum of $2,500. While this would most likely only cover part of the costs associated with colic surgery, it is a valuable benefit. Please note: if your horse has a history of colic problems, either medical or surgical, this coverage will not apply.
Another type of mortality coverage that is available as an alternative to Full Mortality is called Extended Named Perils. This policy covers if the horse dies as a result of a limited number of specifically named causes that are spelled out in the policy, such as fire, lighting, flood, etc. If your horse is still valuable, and older than 18 and therefore ineligible for Full Mortality, you should consider this coverage.
Insured Value
Basically, you can insure your horse for its fair market value, or less. Fair market value is generally considered to be the amount you could expect to receive if you sold your horse right now. With a recent purchase, that would generally be the purchase price. If you have owned the horse for some time and he has increased in value, you have the option to insure for more than the purchase price. To do this, you will need to submit competition or breeding records, and/or professional evaluations, in order to substantiate the value. If the horse is a homebred with no performance or breeding record of its own, generally the company will agree to an insured value of three times the sire`s stud fee. We will be happy to work with you in gathering the necessary information.
It is a good idea to keep your horse`s bill of sale, performance and/or breeding records on file in the event you file a mortality claim.
Premium
The premium for your horse`s mortality policy is based on his age, use and value. To get an emailed quote, go to the QUOTE PAGE.
Claims
If your horse becomes ill, is injured, requires surgery for any reason (even something routine such as castration), dies or is stolen, you must notify the insurance company as soon as possible. There will be a toll free number on your policy, and someone with the claims department will be available to help you any time, day or night.
Major Medical/Surgical
This is the most popular coverage that customers add to their mortality policy. It will help reimburse you for veterinary costs (medical and/or surgical) in the event your horse suffers an accident, injury, illness or disease during the policy period.
Coverage is available for horses between the ages of 6 months and 15 years.
Coverage limits of $5,000 and $7,500 are available, and premiums start at $150 and increase accordingly. Some restrictions to limits may apply depending on the insured value of the animal. For example, if your horse is insured at a value of less than $7,500, most companies will only offer $5,000 in Major Medical/Surgical coverage.
Deductibles range from $200-$250 depending on the company, and apply to every claim or reoccurrence thereof made during the policy period.
The Major Medical/Surgical premium is fully earned, which means that if you cancel the policy mid-term, there is no refund on this premium.
We are committed to PPC marketing. Unlike other agencies that dabble in many areas of internet marketing we are solely focused on being the best in the PPC marketing field. Our experienced PPC professionals and proven methods will allow us to drive sales and maximize ROI.
Surgical Only
This coverage will help reimburse you for your veterinary costs in the event your horse suffers an illness, injury, accident, or disease that requires surgery. It will also pay a percentage of the medical costs related to the surgery.
Annual aggregate limits are available at $2,500, $5,000 and $7,500. Annual premiums begin at $125.
Coverage is available for horses between the ages of 6 months and 14 years.

Loss of Use
In the event your horse is permanently unable to perform its insured use, this coverage will reimburse you for a portion of the horse`s insured value. The scope and availability of the coverage depends on the horse`s age and use, and a comprehensive veterinary exam (similar to a pre-purchase exam) may be required. Please contact our office for more details.

Rozel Bay is a retired racehorse, having raced on the flat and over hurdles. Her first offspring, a filly by Dance With Wolves, TRESAISON ROZEL was FEMALE CHAMPION at the 2003 NATIONAL APPALOOSA SHOW the first time ever shown and went on to win broodmare classes numerous times.
Rozie produced the first very special foal by our young Knabstrupper Stallion in 2004 (see Offspring page) who has outstanding presence and movement. TRESAISON GRACIE went on to win the BEST MARE and BEST IN SHOW at the UK 2007 KNN grading for her new owner Karen Wealleans.
You can never have too much of a good thing, and Rozie foaled another stunning bay leopard colt by Nobodys Harlequin in 2007 - this colt is now sold. Click HERE for Rozel Bay Progeny Page.

Alexander Moreira
Alexander Moreira - UruguayFull Mortality Insurance
