Born Wild - We have been looking for a nice horse to race in the turf distance series at Turf Paradise for a while and found Born Wild by accident. Our trainer Phil had gone to Kentucky for the Keeneland January sale hoping to find us a horse there and found out about Born Wild through the grapevine. Seems he had been sold in the November Keeneland sale by Frank Stronach and bought by some gentlemen who wanted to race him on the turf at the Fair Grounds. The weather there has been so wet they haven`t been able to do that and were willing to sell. To make a long story shorter, he is now in our barn at Turf Paradise recouperating from the long trip and should be ready to race in February sometime.
Born Wild has a wonderful pedigree and was a $290,000 yearling purchase at the July 1993 Keeneland sale. He is out of graded stakes winner Lady Winborne and half brother to graded stakes winners Al Mamoon, La Gueriere, and Lost Soldier. He has 3 stakes wins including the Austrian Derby (yes, in Austria!) and earnings of over $173,000. H
Born Wild did everything we had hoped by becomeing our first stakes winner and getting up on he cover of the Daily Racing Form. We received an offer we couldn`t refuse for him from Hideaway Farms in California where he will begin a new career as a sire.
WINNER! Born Wild won his first start for us on February 20th at Turf Paradise and followed it up with our first stakes win in the Wildcat Handicap on March 28th! Read the article about it from Turf Paradise`s web site.
