Blowing Up Your Blog With Twitter
As I am sure you are aware being a subscriber and reader of my site, I’m fond of blogs, very fond. My affinity for blogs has come as a direct result of noticing the effects they have had on my business. Believe it or not there was a time when I did not utilize a blog in any manner for marketing and advertising of my business. If this is you, I urge you to start blogging for your business. Set up a WordPress blog and provide good quality content just like I do here and you will see and increase in website traffic to your site. If you have never had a blog before then read this article, How Do I Start Blogging it gives you a good understanding of what is required to blog. Also if you want or need a blog but you do not have the time to set it up or you just do not know how, here is a blog setup service I recommend.
The term Blowing Up Your Blog With Twitter, refers to an additional way to drive targeted traffic to your blog and ultimately to your business website. What I am about to outline works with a self-hosted WordPress blog plus a tool that is used with the blog called a Plug-in. There are many Twitter plug-ins for your blog but they are not all the same. Some will place the “retweet” button and count box in your posts for others to retweet. Others will place a twitter icon in the side widget or header so others can follow you on Twitter. The one I’m talking about will automatically place a post to your Twitter account everytime you make a post to your blog, it is called “WP to Twitter“, The automation ability and the fact that this is a free plug-in is the best part. It’s going to save you time because you will not have to go to Twitter and tweet you just made a blog post.
So here is how it works:
The plug-in posts a Twitter status update from your WordPress blog using a URL link shortening service. It is important that you provide your Twitter information, this way your followers know who posted the article. The plugin send a message and allows you to write a custom Tweet for your post which says whatever you want.
As your Twitter followers increase you should begin to see an increase in the number of people visiting your blog from Twitter going to your website. Also as your blog attracts traffic from Twitter it will become indexed by the search engines and this will send additional traffic to your site as well.
I want to stress again, it is important that you provide quality content for them to read. The better the content, the more readers to your blog.
