Horse breeder Roy Frank has 20 mares foaling this year. But when his ten year old mare, Sonatas Peponita gave birth to not one, but two foals, he couldn`t believe it. He was hoping he would never end up with any, but since they`re healthy, he was glad. Frank says the odds of a mare giving birth to twins is about one in 10,000, and the chance of them surviving even smaller. Usually there`s one dead or one with real badlegs or things like that, because there`s not enough room for them to grow inside a mare.

Initially, Roy was worried the mayor would only accept one of the folds, but says mom and her twins bonded quickly. She`s just a good mama. The twins, a colt and a Filly, are now a month old. The last few days, they`ve been venturing out by themselves and playing by themselves. But generally, they have been beside their mother. Frank has been in the quarter horse breeding industry for about 45 years. He raises them, trains them, then sells them.But these foals will likely become permanent residents on the farm. Now all that`s left is finding the perfect namesbefore the twins are registered in the fall.
