Certainly in nature horses don`t have field shelters, but the reality is that we don`t keep horses in their natural environment, we have imposed the constraints of enclosures upon them, so in times of inclement weather they can`t trot off to the woods, or take advantage of natural shelter.
With a field shelter you horse has 24 hour protection from the elements, he or she can come and go as they please, and you are freed from the chore of bringing him in at night
